Access to the app

Investing is one of the core features of the Stash app, however, the existing experience is inconsistent, redundant, and confusing:

• The existing home page and navigation didn't communicate the app's purpose clearly.
• Customers don't know where their money is and what to do with it.
• Customers don't know how to build their wealth and how to track their progress.

What Stash offers?How to use Stash?

The existing navigation bar didn't tell a story about what the app can do and didn't deliver on the promise of investing simplified. Duplication and density between Home, Bank, & Invest make it hard to comprehend. So I created a new nav framework with little to no overlap without the existing home, transfer and plan tabs.

Hypothesis: Replacing the general home with Invest home and serving customers with the content they need, will guide customers toward long-term success and increase users' retention rate in the app.

Inform "How am I doing?"

Track my progress in building long-term wealth

Customers valued measuring what they earned relative to their contribution and the market performance. We designed a graph that allows customers to self-direct rather than guide them with large CTAs. Customers are also able to compare their portfolio performance with SPY500.
Celebrate customers' progress and remind them of Stashway - invest regularly, diversify portfolios and invest for the long term.
Recommend "What should I do next?"

Build wealth through personalized recommendation

Guidance is personalized based on customers' searches, actions and profiles, empowering them to drive their money decisions.

Serve customers with recommendations for what to invest, how to diversify their portfolio and how to earn stock rewards even if they don't have money to invest...etc. Customers could dismiss one or multiple recommendations anytime, which are sorted by priority.

This feature was a trade-off in the MVP because high engineer and ML efforts are needed.

Learn based on my interests

We supported customers in their desire to keep "leveling up" their investment knowledge and growing with Stash. The learning content would vary every time when a customer taps load more.
